COMPASSION and its role in confidence building.

Students get lost or fall behind for so many reasons... family distractions, social stress, language difficulties, illness... even excitement about something good in their life can toss them off a lesson. The reasons might have nothing to do with aptitude, but the net effect is always doubt and stress that compounds their difficulties.

FELC Tutor’s primary goal is to build academic confidence. When a student comes in, we help them understand that – whatever the reasons –they can catch up. They can “get it.” It may come quickly or take some time...but they will come out of the process feeling better about themselves than when they walked in.

The idea of tutoring is inherently less fun than hanging out with friends or relaxing. Our program keeps students focused on how to make the entire process more enjoyable, and on a path towards key, tangible rewards: a feeling of equality, accomplishment, and acknowledgement by parents and teachers for their success.
